Check 1: which cable do I need?

Start with the plug/connector (e.g. Europlug/C7), then choose cores (2 or 3) and wire gauge (0.75 / 1.0 / 1.5mm²) based on load and cable length.

Check 2: load (W → A) in 10 seconds

Quick math: A = Watts / 230V. Example: 460W ≈ 2.0A. Always leave margin and check the specs of plug, dimmer and cable.

Check 3: will my LED dim properly?

Check if the lamp/driver is dimmable and which dimming type is required (often trailing-edge). For fixtures/panels the driver usually decides the dimming behaviour.

FAQ

A power cable typically refers to mains power (230V) between socket and device. A power supply cable is often used between adapter/driver and the LED product, or as a device-specific lead. Always match connector type and specifications.

Base it on total wattage, cable length and safety margin. For longer runs or higher loads, choose a thicker gauge (e.g. 1.5mm²) to reduce voltage drop and heating.

Check: (1) lamp/driver is dimmable, (2) dimmer type (often trailing-edge), (3) minimum load of the dimmer, and (4) driver compatibility. In many fixtures the driver is the key factor.
